An aged care facility in Box Hill called in to investigate a suspected burst in the fire service from the booster cabinet to the front facade of a building, extending into the basement car park area. The challenge was to pinpoint the exact location of the suspected burst and address it efficiently while minimising disruption to the facility and ensuring the safety of the works.

Our team initiated a thorough investigation using specialised leak detection equipment. We conducted an acoustic leak investigation at front external locations, working closely with site fire service contractors to identify the approximate location of the suspected fire service burst. This precise approach allowed us to narrow down the suspected leak area and minimise the scope, impact, and invasiveness of the necessary works. To ensure safety, we provided appropriate protection for the surrounding areas, including exposed aggregate pathways, and deployed safety equipment such as bollards, bunting, and signage as needed.

We neatly cut and removed a section of the exposed aggregate pathway, excavated to expose the burst section of fire hydrant pipework, and replaced it with new, suitable pipework and fittings.
